Thoughts of Queen Esther

How was Esther favored with admittance into the palace? Esther sustained a continually teachable spirit. Are we teachable women of God? How many  desire to grow deeper in God? We grow in the lord; however, we grow in different areas in our life in order to have a balanced life. Life will cause you to grow should you allow it.

We must depend upon God. Our trust cannot be in our own talents, gifts, knowledge, and insight to accomplish desired objectives. God is the one who will guide us through difficult times and decisions. It may even be possible to avoid difficulties when we spend time seeking Him. Our sensitive need is to grow a willingness to learn and to remain teachable. Learning from your children, learning from your friends, learning from your spouse, and also learning even from our enemies. Enemies teach you to not be like them.

Esther was open and willing to take counsel and advice from her uncle Mordecai. Although she was the queen, she did not consider herself to be all-knowing or above seeking counsel. A good leader, a strong women of God is humble, open to the advice of others and request input and suggestions for consideration. What I loved about Esther, She lived humble in order to deliver her people.

Esther remains an example for women today.  Esther had an obedient spirit. Obedience to hear, to listen and obey. See we never reach a level where we are above criticism or we no longer need the input of others. Most importantly, what caused Esther to be so teachable? What did God see in her character? Esther continued to be respectful of others and humble, even though her social position in life had changed dramatically.

Esther was Obedient, she was submissive and she revered God. She had a quiet and gentle spirit.  She kept quiet as instructed.

I love this passage of scripture, “But let it be the hidden man of the heart which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.” (1 Peter 3:4)

Esther  was submissive, and submissiveness is the heart of discipleship. Jesus called us not only to believe in Him but to follow Him. Submission is foundational to servanthood. We submit first to God. She was content with life in Mordecai’s house and then became content with the day-to-day concerns of life in the courts of the king. She never set out to serve God in any grand manner but to be used as His instrument. However, God had strategically placed Esther to be His divinely placed tool. We may not feel as though we have any unique skill set, gifting, talents or qualities, but whatever God has developed and poured into our lives is more than enough to accomplish the task when anointed by the Holy Spirit.

Esther was an unlikely leader in God’s army. How many times in your life you felt unqualified? God chooses and divinely prepares and establishes whoever He desires to fill the assigned places He ordains. He will do His work through surrendered vessels. What are surrendered vessels?

You have given yourself to him. You have surrendered your heart posture to him. Just as He used Esther, He is able to use any woman who surrenders herself to Him. Esther risked her life to save the Jewish people.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. (2 Timothy 2:21)

She was a vessel of honour. Esther took on a responsibility that many would not have done. She purified herself for 12 months. She kept her quiet and obeyed. Not to mentioned, she risked her life in the process. Esther did what Mordecai told her as she had done when under his care.  She stood before the king for one reason for she knew that the hand of God was on her life.

What is God looking for? He is looking for men and women whose hearts are completely His-completely. God gives extraordinary tasks to ordinary people to reveal His faithfulness. Do you long to please Him in your actions? Do you care about the motives behind your actions? Do you have a heart for God? Are you teachable?
God reveals through Esther’s life just how He worked through one young woman to save the Jewish people from total annihilation by an impossibly powerful leader.
Esther’s story reveals eternal wisdom about your own future and destiny! Esther is a revelation of the way God overcomes human weakness and failure to elevate our position and rank all the way to His throne room.

Women what am I saying to you today? Be teachable. There is so much that God desires to invest in us. Esther saved a whole nation because she listened. She was not to busy talking to the point she could not hear. God used Mordecai to speak to her. Her heeding to his voice caused her to be in a position to be set up for greatness. Her humbleness to instructions saved a nation. Dont get in a hurry, wait on the Lord. We jump ahead and do rash things. When we have sufficiently waited on the Lord, He gets full control of our spirit.

When reading the book of Esther, we are tempted to believe situations like this only happened during Bible times. However, there are many opportunities that are ahead of us. We must not let the busyness of life and things of this world blind us to His divine appointments. God is still on the throne and looking for people He can use in a variety of circumstances to be His instrument in the world. Esther came to what many would call her ‘defining moment.’ Esther could never have imagined she would be placed as queen.  The Lord definitely places us in positions to be used for His purposes.  Esther was willing to lay down her life “for such a time as this.” She recognized the seriousness of the situation and the calling upon her life.
