HOPE GOT ME UP THIS MORNING
Lamentations 3:21–23: “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
There is something powerful about the morning. Every morning is an announcement from God that darkness did not get the final word. No matter how long the night seemed, no matter what you carried to bed, no matter what kept running through your mind, when God allowed your eyes to open this morning, He gave you another opportunity to believe again, trust again, pray again, dream again, and hope again. That’s why this morning I want to encourage you from the simple subject, “Hope Got Me Up This Morning.”
Somebody may say, “I thought my alarm clock got me up.” No, your alarm may have awakened you, but God is the One who sustained you. Somebody may say, “My responsibilities got me out of bed.” But there is something deeper than responsibility that keeps a believer moving. There is something down on the inside that says, “I don’t know what God is going to do, I don’t know when He’s going to do it, and I don’t know how He’s going to do it, but I still believe He’s going to do something.” That’s hope.
Hope does not mean everything in your life is perfect. Hope does not mean you never cry. Hope doesn’t mean you never become disappointed. Hope doesn’t mean you never have questions. Biblical hope means that even when I cannot see what God is doing, I remain confident in who God is.
